Ph.D. Positions — Fall 2027

We are looking for ONE motivated Ph.D. students to join the group in Fall 2027. Successful candidates will conduct original research at the intersection of remote sensing, geospatial analysis, and climate science — with opportunities to contribute to federally funded projects on land cover change, climate extremes, and agricultural sustainability.

Students will be fully supported through research assistantships and will have access to IU's high-performance computing resources, a vibrant interdisciplinary research environment, and a strong network of national and international collaborators.

Background

Geography, environmental science, computer science, atmospheric science, or related fields.

Skills

Programming (Python, R, or similar), remote sensing or GIS experience, ESMs, strong quantitative foundation.

Qualities

Intellectual curiosity, self-motivation, and a genuine interest in geospatial and climate research.

Undergraduate Research

Undergraduate Research Assistants

We are always looking for motivated undergraduate students interested in working with the group on geospatial and climate research. Undergraduate RAs gain hands-on experience with satellite imagery analysis, GIS, and scientific programming, and often co-author publications and present at conferences.

No prior research experience is required. Curiosity and commitment are what matter most.
